Skill System, OGL 3.5e SRD Rule Set

recent page added explains the skill system i developed for the game. i like it, as its fairly simple but is also complex and is a bit of a combination of skill systems i’ve seen in various games i’ve played. i would have to say that , 5 Tiers for skills might be too much 🙂 quite possibly it’ll just be 3 at the start; no doubt it will go up over time with release of new levels and new content for said levels.

i’ve been doing alot of research and such and i found out about the OGL and the SRD that Wizards of the Cost created. at first i thought this was bad news for me, but in turn i think it was good; as i plan now to use the 3.5e SRD rules for my game. i’m only doing this because the rules i was going to make very much mirror the ones from 4e. so, might as well just use the OGL so i can freely use the 3.5e rules without being sued or anything like that. plus, those rules have already been made, so i dont have to spend any time making rules myself. this may sound like a cheap way to get out of things, but i really do agree that the rule set created by WotC is very good and very simple. the real originality from my game is the story and the skill system, as well as some other things. and to be honest, thats really where alot of games get their praise for. rule sets and dice rolls and RNG’s; they’ve all been re-used many times. its hard and nearly impossible to re-invent the wheel when the wheel already works so good that theres no point in re-inventing it.

me and a friend are working on the skills themselves for the 7 magics and the 3 mastery’s. i think by this weekend i’ll post some info about where we’ve gotten so far.

K’tchek Race – every race completed! future plans

so today i put up the story of the K’tchek race. they are really cool and i enjoy them and i think they will offer players with a unique experience.

with that, all 4 of the planned races are now up on their respective pages for everyone to look at. in the future i think those pages will possibly be re-written to make more sense and possibly have more added to them; like racial advantages and specific bonuses players gain from each race.

i also brainstormed on how content will work out in the game. i think i got a fairly simple way of doing it and i might make a page for that next.

after that, i’ll start working on creating the different skills and magics for each type of magic and each weapon. that’ll take a long time, so i’ll most likely make new pages every 3-4 days when more stuff is added/changed. i have to create 5 tiers worth of spells/skills/passive/buffs! thats gonna take awhile 😛

Megiddian Race ~ need sleep hurr durr

yeah i made a page for the Megiddian race. very fun race that i enjoyed making, i think it is very unique

i would post the 4th race but im tired and i need to goto bed so, hah; there you go.

had a good game of D&D tonight at my local Guard Tower. i learned more about D&D from playing it and it was good data i can think back too when developing more of the game; especially encounters and quests.

Backstory and The Bohrdoon

Yesterday and today i uploaded the backstory for the rpg as well as the backstory for the Bohrdoon. the Bohrdoon is the second playable race in Exodium.

i really like the backstory, i think it fits well and connects my original ideas together and allows alot of my newer ideas to work and make sense. i really want to try and create a good story for everything and make it feel as if a lot of things aren’t just randomly placed.

Exodium is meant to be a Role Playing Game, so it should have unique races with great backgrounds within a unique universe not yet seen in RPG’s.

Believe it or not i have alot of information for the game already written down. most of it will need to be altered as i had originally written it in the pre-text of it being an MMOG. but since its going to be a Dungeons and Dragons type of game alot of things need to be re-written.

alot of the content of the game needs to be thought out too. thats where alot of the remaining work is.

The Zev Race: Synopsis and Introduction

i have created a new page that gives background on the Zev race; what they are and how they’re a unique playable race in Exodium. i really like this race, it was the first one i thought of and i’ve come back to it making sure it works and fits good within the lore. i believe it is a very unique race and will give something different for players to experience, especially when it comes to roleplaying.

so far i have 3 races written down. the third one is not fully fleshed out yet, but the second one pretty much is. i’ll post the second race soon in a new page.
